WORSHIP THOUGHTS

04/15/06 - Singers and Musicians flowing together

Just recently Ruth and I met with two of the people that head up our PA team in Leicester. We were able to share heart very openly about the role of the PA team and that of the singers and musicians flowing together. For many of us, we rely on the PA team to help us sound how we think we should sound! Of course both teams want to be the best they can possibly be and the way to achieve that is by serving the other. On another occassion someone asked my why I had come to the particular church. My response was, "To serve, and see each person come into all that God has for them."

Jesus became a servant, Phil 2v7. It says that he made himself nothing, taking on the likeness of a servant, being made in human likeness. Here we have the King of Glory, the Creator of the Universe humbling himself and becoming as one of his creations. In verse 8 we read that he humbled himself. In him, we see a living demonstration of the power and nature of the Kingdom that he spoke about. How much more should we become like him? Humbling ourselves from so-called lofty positions (ha!) to serve those that we work alongside.

In order to get he job done, to fulfill what God wants us to do, we have to serve the next generation. We must serve those who work alongside us and realize that they are not there to serve our every whim. When equipment needs to be carried or moved, mikes need setting up, cables plugging in we are never to important not to involve. When stuff needs doing, let's role up our sleeves and invole like everyone else.

Jesus paid the ultimate price for serving mankind. As we celebrate Easter, may we remember that he laid down his life for others and may lay down our lives too in order to see our generation and the next released into their future.

David
