WORSHIP THOUGHTS
08/06/06 - Living Water
In John 7 v 37 we read that Jesus stood up on the last day of the feast invited anyone who was thirsty to come to him and drink. Verse 38...... if anyone believes in me then rivers of living water will flow out from that person's heart. Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit.
My Daughter, Faith and I have just come back from a ministry trip to India. It was very hot and humid, and we needed to drink a lot. Especially water from un-opened bott les! We drank water every day in abundance. We were thirsty and so we drank. In the natural it is like that and it is the same in the spiritual. If we are thirsty we must come to the fountain (Jesus) and drink. He has an abundance for each of us and there will never be a shortage of supply.
Then as a consequence of drinking this living water (John 4) rivers (plural) will flow out of our innermost being. We can never get away from the fact that we need to live in overflow. The Holy Spirit is available to us 24/7 and when we get full we will spill over. See Ephesians 5 v18f. When it rains rivers fill up and they flow faster and spill over their banks. Guess what, God wants us full continually and spilling over.
I want to encourage you to read the verses that I have used this week and allow God, the Holy Spirit to fill you and then begin to overflow. Overflow in praise, thankgiving, gratitude and then keep going.
