WORSHIP THOUGHTS
20/05/06 - Aware of God’s presence – Part Three
Over the past two weeks I have been unpacking aspects of God’s presence for us to look at. We have considered the fact that he has repeatedly spoken to us about his presence being with us, and that without it nothing will distinguish us form the world that we live in. However, we are different form the world and must live in the revelation of that daily.
Continuing on from there this week I want us to look at a beautiful picture found in Psalm 139 v 13-16 where the Psalmist realizes that God is his creator and sustainer. We have been created and wonderfully made. When our lives were woven together every day of our life was ordained. We see David’s response to all of that in verse 17 which reads, “How precious are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them they would outnumber the grains of sand……”
In fact reading the psalm up to that point we find the writer is overwhelmed by the fact that wherever we are God is with us. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? The answer is – nowhere! There is nowhere we can go where God does not see us or love us. So it is no point in trying to escape. We have to surrender to him and allow his presence to touch us and change us.
Please read this psalm and allow the truth embedded in every line to take root in your own heart and produce fruit.
David
