WORSHIP THOUGHTS
04/05/06 - Aware of God’s presence - Part One
It is true that many of us forget what people say to us, even when we make extra effort to remember. We make notes; post its; knots in out handkerchiefs; etc. Just to remember what we need to. Also, we often reinterpret what we have heard, changing the meaning very slightly.
I am saying all of this because I am on a journey into more of God’s presence in my life and I want you to do the same. In order to do this, we must realize that Jesus spoke to us about his presence being with us. And in true form, we have to take what he said at face value. In Matt 28 v 20 he says these words, “And be sure of this: I am with you always…..” (New Living Translation) There is only one conclusion from all of this. He is with us, and if he is with us, then his presence is with us. What a revelation. I have heard so many prayers that say, “Lord, please be with me!” He is, because he said it.
Now we are in good company when we forget what Jesus has spoken to us. His disciples were exactly the same. Jesus told them one time to go over to the other side of the lake and he would meet them there. Mark 6 v 25f Yet, when the storm grew stronger and the waves higher; and someone was walking past them on the water they lost it! Yet only a short time before he had spoken to them of where they were going.
What happened was that they took their eyes off what Jesus had said and concentrated on their circumstances.
I pray that we keep our eyes on Jesus and not on our circumstances. More of this next week.
