ABOUT US
Trained and Skilled is a ministry founded and administered by David Hadden alongside his wife Ruth. For over many years they have Trained and Skilled scores of worshippers in churches worldwide and affected the lives of thousands along the way.
David and Ruth have three children, Faith, Sam and Michael. Faith is on staff at Leicester Christian Fellowship, Sam lives and works in St Louis, United States, and Michael attends Leicester University where he is studying Criminolgy. We are based in Leicester Christian Fellowship, England where we serve alongside the eldership as part of the Ministry Team. Our main emphasis is the development of the Worship Team and we are also involved in the Prophetic and Pastoral Ministry. We are servants called by God to teach and train fellow worshippers of the Lord.
The whole concept for Trained & Skilled came from a verse in 1 Chronicles 25 v 7 where it says – “all of them trained and skilled in music for the Lord.” This has been our passion and heart for many years and regardless of what kind of Church you attend God wants you to be trained and skilled in what he is calling you to do.
Singing is a gift God has given us to communicate our heart of love and passion toward him, and his towards us. Our conversation of worship is two way – just like any other conversation. God speaks to us and we respond…..
Back to 1 Chronicles 25 v. 7 where we read that all of them (the singers and musicians in the house of the Lord) were trained and skilled. As we read on we see that there were young and old involved, as well as teachers and students. Surely that leads to such a mixture of expertise? We have to be responsible to see another generation coming up behind those of us who have for many years served in the worship team. We cannot hold onto "our position" for fear of losing it when there are those I believe out there who are just waiting in the wings.
It is time to go and get those people and train them to step into our positions of service. Begin by seeing those who are having some kind of musical training and encourage them. Being good stewards to take an interest in them and let them know that they can become a part of the extended team. Those who attend the worship team rehearsal, but as yet have not played on a Sunday.
Allow them to integrate and have the existing team members get to know them and encourage them. This will be the first step towards many more people being trained and skilled in music for the Lord. Notice the verse says, "....in music for the Lord." All of our playing and singing is for him and not for us! Infact all that we have been gifted with is for God, then others and not for ourselves.
